Congratulations to all our nominees and winners of the 9th Annual Chamber Business Awards.
Thank you to RBC for making this night possible. We appreciated everyone who attended our event virtually to show support to some pretty amazing folks.
The Employer of the Year, this award will be presented to a small business that has made a commitment to foster employee engagement, promotes work-life balance, embraces diversity and has done notable work to advance two-spirited and LGBTQ workplace equality, offering an exceptional and welcoming workplace for their employees.
Our 2021 Employer of the year winner is… Tim Hortons – Jur Family Group!
Here is a great story from one of the Jur group’s employees.
The Jur Family Group is a Tim Horton’s franchise in Winnipeg. It operates 4 different locations and as a Transgender man, I had an absolutely amazing time working under the owners Ken and Alicia Jur. They employ a number of lgbt+ staff. I worked with the franchise to allow your pronouns on your nametag if you would like to wear them. They have a number of team-building events throughout the year and worked well adapting to the changes during the pandemic. Ken is an owner I respect and have learned a lot from in my time there. I only hope that more franchise owners cared about employee satisfaction and moral as Ken Jur.
Congratulations Ken, Alicia and the Jur family crew!
