This award recognizes an LGBT or ally entrepreneur who has launched or is leading a successful business and having a positive impact on Manitoba’s economy. This award acknowledges innovation, initiative and a “can-do, Made in Manitoba” attitude.
We’re thrilled to announce the Recipient for 2021 is…Meghan Malcolm from Willow Press Books.
Meghan started a business in the middle of the pandemic with a goal to build community after periods of isolation. They bring in authors of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, BIPOC authors and have books about disability, gender, social justice and sexuality. There are children’s books that talk about consent, how babies are made and different kinds of families, kids and bodies. They are also starting a library for accessible reasons in the future! They are providing a place to share education and also let their customers enjoy a good read and escape through fantasy books.
