The Manitoba LGBT* Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to introduce our two new staff members, Jenny Steinke-Magnus as Executive Director, and Cec Lopez as Program Coordinator! The creation of both of these positions was made possible through funding from Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC)’s Ecosystem Fund and the Government of Canada.

Jenny Steinke-Magnus (she/her) has over 15 years’ experience in non-profit administration, communications, event management, and human resources. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and French linguistics from the University of Winnipeg and a Master of Arts in French Studies from Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, BC), and she recently completed a certificate in Non-Profit Management from Mount Royal University (Calgary).

Throughout her career, Jenny has worked and volunteered for various arts organizations, international development agencies, and professional associations, including Manitoba Choral Association, Rainbow Harmony Project, Prairie Voices Inc. Family of Choirs, Promotional Product Professionals of Canada, the Pedorthic Association of Canada, and Canadian Foodgrains Bank, among others.

Besides her work with the Chamber, Jenny serves as Chairperson of Creative Manitoba and balances freelance translation projects and independent consulting work with non-profits. In her spare time, Jenny is an avid puzzler and expresses her artistic side by singing with the Winnipeg chamber choir Ecco Singers. She enjoys spending time with her wife and their two rescue dogs.

Jenny is driven by a deep commitment to community, inclusion, and advocacy, making her a passionate and dynamic leader in the non-profit sector. She is excited to be joining the Chamber’s team and looks forward to leading programs and initiatives to support and promote a thriving 2SLGBTQ+ business community in Manitoba.

Jenny is joined on the team by Cec Lopez (they/them), a Treaty One-based creative with over 5 years’ experience in arts administration, education, event management, and non-profit organization. They hold a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies modified with English from Dartmouth College (New Hampshire, USA) and a Master of Arts in Music and Culture from Carleton University (Ottawa, ON). They have worked and volunteered for various arts and non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and small businesses, including Misfit Music Management/Odd Doll Records, Good + Plenty Arts Collective, Artivism, and the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre.

Cec is committed to working with and helping to facilitate programs and initiatives that support underrepresented businesses, especially BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, low income, immigrant, and disabled entrepreneurs. Cec is thrilled to join the Chamber’s team as of April 2025 and is looking forward to supporting and contributing to Manitoba’s thriving 2SLGBTQIA+ business community.

Aside from their work with the Chamber, Cec owns and operates a music studio in the Exchange District and is part of the organizing team for Good + Plenty Producer’s Club. In their spare time, they make music under the artist project “CEC” and compete internationally for the Spanish national ice hockey team.

Please join us in welcoming Jenny and Cec to the Chamber community!
